Additionally, Afghanistan is of course home to a huge poppy growing operation, which was previously controlled largely by Western countries in efforts to prevent illegal drugs such as heroin from leaving Afghanistan.

Now, let’s look at the sales data in the last 4 years and see how that fits into the trends for the previous 15 years in the graph below. As we all remember recovery was in full swing in 2011, but since then we see a slow downward trend in equipment sales. Maybe, the “reports of death of the trade show” have been a bit premature.

Of course, bad times don’t last forever, and, slowly but surely, stock exchanges recovered and were stabilized by 2001. Many technology companies — including Webvan, a pioneer of online grocery services — declared bankruptcy and ceased operations. By 2024, eCommerce sales are expected to overtake in-store sales. The sky’s the limit!
