MEWPs are now classified according to Group and Type. There are Group A and Group B MEWPs, as well as Types 1, 2, and 3. The last major changes happened in 2006. There are now two main ways to classify MEWPs: By group. MEWP Classification By Group. This group includes all other MEWPs that are not in Group A.

While the time commitment to adequately fill out this survey is serious and will likely make it more difficult for small and medium sized brokers and forwarders to commit to filling it out, the level of detail is an encouraging sign that the FMCSA is serious about making sure the changes reflect the realities of the industry.
