In 2009, The Coca-Cola Company unveiled its 2020 Vision and Roadmap for Winning Together. The system can detect a deviation from a forecast, for example, and yet understand if the deviation is in an allowable range and that an alert does not have to be generated. Looking to real-life examples for inspiration, we can ask, ‘Who does reverse logistics well?’ For regulators and the public, reverse logistics may be judged by how safe and how green the process is, for example, recycling products instead of throwing them into a landfill. From my perspective, I think Toyota Kata as a topic has evolved quite a bit since the original book was published in 2009. On the one hand, the practice has become more sophisticated as people explore and learn application in contexts other than the original industrial examples. As I see it, that evolution has taken two tracks.
